The battle was going forward, looking like they had a chance, looking like they could win, maybe. Sure, they were outnumbered, but when hadn't the X-Men been so? And now they had the Starjammers at their side, and Alex's father? There was no way they could lose, right?
Adrenalin ran through his system as he battled a Shi'ar, and broke through their ranks, coming into the main throne room even as Corsair, his father, confronted Gabriel. Damn Gabriel and his mad dreams. The kid had been through a lot and gone completely around the bend, and not in a nice way. Now, everything was wrong, and Alex felt for his father, having to confront Gabriel here and now.
A spurt of noise drew his attention away and he blew a Shi'ar commando away, off the stage area, and glanced back at his father and brother... just in time to see Gabriel incinerate Corsair, ending his scream in a moment.
Alex felt time seem to slow down as shock, pain like he had never known, and fear slammed into him. He knew his mouth was stretching wide and he heard the cry of "Dad!" as if it came from someone else, someone far away. He was running forward without really thinking about it, and as he approached, he saw his father, so very dead, so very still, and something inside him snapped, something awful and dark, and bloody.
Until that moment, he had been ready to just capture Gabriel, take him ion, and try to help him, but now, seeing his father on the floor, seeing Gabriel gloating and roaring victory as the bedamned Shi'ar cried his name in approbation, Alex knew that there was only one ending to him. Rage washed over him, and determination and as time seemed to roar back to life, a new name was on his lips.
"Gabriel!" Power spiraled up from inside him, unchecked, unstopped, uncontrolled, save that it was aimed at one man. His power slammed out and sent Gabriel reeling across the stage as he stalked the other.
Even as he slammed one beam after another into the thing that wore his brother's face, he was crying, his powers almost making him glow. And when Gabriel fell, he felt only hope that this was all over. His brother started to wake again,and Alex felt despair roll over him, even as he let his powers build, this time to do the thing he must. A moment later, he felt the grip of a transporter, and was deposited back on the Starjammer. "No!"
He sank to his knees, shivering, sensing as much as feeling Lorna hugging him. Now it would go on. Now he would have to hunt his brother... now it would be war.
He closed his eyes, and sank into darkness, wanting only to forget for a little while

Personality - needs work
May. 10th, 2016 10:51 pmAlex is an outgoing man who wants to succeed in life, and find happiness. He feels that life is somewhat random, and that bad things can and will happen to anyone, anytime. He wants to help people, but he feels like he is no hero, merely a man who does his best. He grew up as an overachiever, and succeeded most of his younger life.
On meeting the X-Men, and his brother, he found himself resenting Scott's place in the X-Men, and how he was seen and respected. It caused a lot of friction to Alex's personality, anyway. Over time, he has had enough successes on his own that he has finally found peace with himself and his brother's legend. Now he has confidence, and believes he can do whatever he sets his mind to. His dreams of helping involve reading seismographs, repairing computers, and being the best person he can.
He is somewhat private about his personal life, but willing to open the shell if he feels a connection. Life with the Masters, his adoptive parents, taught him that you have to seize opportunity and go for it. Life with the X-Men taught him to never stop trying. Life during the War of Kings taught him that a moment's decision can change the universe, but that one must not count on things going right.
He loves surfing, rocks, Lorna, music, and living for the sake of living.
Recently, he has totally found himself hating the way the world is and wished to go back to space.

There strange worlds We Live In
Oct. 8th, 2015 05:37 pmAlex was tired and felt like he was quite simply too tired to brain right now. His meeting with Lorna had gone well, but had only reminded him in so many ways of how much he missed his Lorna, his wife, as well as Mavis. It had reminded him all too much of what eh was missing, and the fact that he felt like he didn't belong in this world.
He kept trying to fill his days with busy work, helping to take care of Faith, helping to teach her, and in general getting to know about the ship and the world they were in.
But every little thing he did reminded him of Lorna. And when it didn't, when he went a day without thinking of her every moment, he found himself afraid he would forget her. So his days went on, and he adapted, and some days he didn't think of Lorna at all, mostly.
And then there were days like today, when he had seen the Lorna here. Now he was headed home, to share this bottle he had acquired with Emma. For sure, they both deserved it.
With a sigh, he stepped in, and then flopped into a chair.
He kept trying to fill his days with busy work, helping to take care of Faith, helping to teach her, and in general getting to know about the ship and the world they were in.
But every little thing he did reminded him of Lorna. And when it didn't, when he went a day without thinking of her every moment, he found himself afraid he would forget her. So his days went on, and he adapted, and some days he didn't think of Lorna at all, mostly.

He's got powersssss
Aug. 28th, 2015 08:11 pmAlex is a human mutant, born with an x-gene that gives him superhuman powers. He constantly absorbs and metabolizes any kind of energy, though his body most easily metabolizes cosmic energy, like that of the sun. His body can only absorb so much, however, and once his limit is reached, he has to release some. If he waits too long, it starts to leak out of him, making him dangerous to those around him.
If he just lets go, it radiates out in all directions as a wave of plasma, which can make things explode, burn, melt, and shatter. If he concentrates, he can channel it all in one direction, and send it out of his hands as a blast of concentrated plasma energy. His power, when emitted strongly, can blow holes in solid steel or vaporize humans.
Alex can also use his power to fly, as well as to ionize the atmosphere around him, or to deflect and absorb limited amounts of other energies, such as electromagnetic power. His body is generally warmer than most people's bodies, and he can control his powers to almost just radiate heat, enabling him to heat up water or food.
Alex is a skilled pilot, and good at self defense, against both normal and powered opponents. He is also a skilled firefighter, a trained soldier and skilled special forces operative, skilled in paramedic duties, has some skill in diplomatic and political areas, and has even some experience as a teacher and a trouble shooter.
He is also knowledgeable about Seismology, Geology, and Spelunking.
